For WA State Rep 20th District (D)
Less Olympia. More Paychecks.
I'm Evan Jones - tradesman, Army veteran, and your Port of Longview Commissioner. Every morning I drive 110 miles because the work isn't here. I'm running for State Representative in the 20th District to fix that. The 20th has the workers, the resources, and the drive. It needs a rep in Olympia who will actually fight for it.
Let's Get to Work →
Meet Evan
Evan Jones isn't a career politician. He's a tradesman, a U.S. Army veteran, and an elected Port of Longview Commissioner who raised his hand when volunteers were needed to serve - same as he's always done. Evan drives 110 miles every morning because the family-wage jobs that should exist in the 20th keep going somewhere else.
In his role as Port Commissioner, Evan watched the Port award a contract to a contractor with a dangerous safety record and he couldn't stop it under current Washington law. Evan wrote the district's state representative asking why - and got a letter back defending the contractor, not workers or taxpayers. That is why Evan is running. The 20th deserves someone in Olympia who understands what it costs when Olympia gets it wrong - and will fight to bring the work home.
The Platform
-
Bring the Work Home
Washington's permitting gridlock is killing projects and driving family-wage paychecks to Oregon and Idaho. Evan will cut the red tape and fight to keep those jobs - and those paychecks - right here in the 20th.
-
More Taxpayers, Not More Taxes
We don't need to raise taxes. We need more businesses and workers paying into the system. Fix permitting, get the projects, grow the base. Evan knows the difference between taxing people more and giving them more to pay taxes on.
-
Every Worker Comes Home Whole
At the Port of Longview, Evan watched a contractor with a dangerous safety record win a public contract - legally, under current law. He's running to close those loopholes and make sure our tax dollars fund safe, accountable contractors. No exceptions.
-
Not Olympia's. Ours.
The 20th keeps sending someone to Olympia who votes no from the minority. He will stop the policies that don't fit our district — on guns, on permitting, on Seattle decisions that land wrong here. Evan thinks like us, and he'll be in the majority where arguments get made before the vote.
-
The Oath Comes First
Evan swore an oath to the Constitution when he enlisted - not to a party, not to a political agenda. He's running to be in the majority because that's where the 20th can actually be heard. But his oath hasn't changed, and it won't. That includes defending the Second Amendment.
-
Invest in the Trades
College isn't the only path to a good life. Evan came up through the trades and knows what earning your journeyman card means for a family. He'll fight to expand vocational training and apprenticeships so the next generation of workers in the 20th can build careers right here at home.

"I've worked alongside union members in this district for decades, and Evan Jones is exactly what the 20th needs right now. He's not a politician who discovered workers — he IS a worker. An IBEW journeyman who knows what it costs when a job goes to an unsafe contractor, when a project gets killed by red tape, when a paycheck leaves the district. I'm proud to stand with Evan."
-
"The 20th Legislative District deserves a voice in Olympia that fights for working families — not just in election years, but every day. Evan Jones brings the kind of real-world experience and independent judgment that makes a legislator effective from day one. I'm proud to support his campaign."
-
"Evan Jones is the kind of candidate who wins races in tough districts — because he's authentic, he's rooted in his community, and he talks to voters the way they actually talk to each other. The 20th needs a neighbor in Olympia, not another politician. I am proud to support Evan Jones."
